Intensive Russian Strikes Eliminate Power Across Kyiv

Power facilities under attack in Ukraine
Ukraine's energy systems have faced increased strikes in recent weeks

Overnight, Russian missile and drone strikes have caused electricity outages in multiple districts of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.

Several individuals were wounded while residents in the city's east were left without electricity and dealt with interruptions to drinking water, according to municipal leaders.

Meanwhile, a seven-year-old child was fatally injured in a distinct aerial attack in the Zaporizhzhia area in the southern area, as reported by area administrators.

Moscow has escalated strikes on power infrastructure over the past few days, while the country's government has called for "concrete actions" from allies to increase pressure on Russia.

"What's needed is not superficial actions but decisive action - from the US, Europe and the Group of Seven - in supplying defensive weapons and enforcing penalties," was stated in a public message.

Officials stated that numerous aerial vehicles and several dozen rockets struck the country's power systems, describing such attacks as "cynical and calculated" and against "everything that sustains normal life" as the weather cools.

The energy minister said Russia was "conducting extensive attacks" and repair crews were laboring to repair systems.

A barrage of missiles damaged energy infrastructure and apartment buildings in Kyiv.

Multiple people injured in the strikes on the city have been hospitalized, per statements from city authorities.

Regional authorities said the city endured significant strikes throughout the evening. A young boy was killed and several individuals were wounded.

The attacks follow periods of aerial attacks in the region, portions of which remain under the control of Moscow's military.

All of Ukraine is on alert for hypersonic Kinzhal missile strikes, which are harder to identify.

National leaders told reporters that Moscow was intentionally trying to damage the electrical infrastructure, with attacks already disrupting fuel infrastructure.

Officials stated utility staff and authorities were bracing for additional strikes.
