Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been achieved on hardcourt

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev won his first championship for 882 days with victory over opponent Moutet in the tournament final.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a challenging season, winning just a single victory at the major tournaments and experiencing a meltdown at the US Open.

The player's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serve in specific - caused him falling of the top ten and finally splitting with long-term mentor Cervara.

Currently training with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily progressed in the past month - peaking in a tightly fought competitive win over Frenchman Moutet.

It is Medvedev's first championship since the Italian tournament and first on a hard court since March of the previous year.

The win also signifies he has won 21 championships at 21 different events.

"It's the first time I have attended a tournament with my both daughters simultaneously, so to get a championship is particularly special," stated ranked player the champion.

"This victory is in tribute of my younger daughter her name, because the first title I got when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had failed in his past six title deciders, comprising in Halle earlier this year.

The player's retrieving approach and recurring outbursts on the tennis court had caused commentators to wonder if his skill to compete at the top level was over.

However the athlete has made changes in recent weeks, making an effort to advance forward and perform aggressively, supported by an enhanced serve.

The champion came back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the tricky Frenchman, securing 4 of the final five points to gain the advantage.

The competitors traded break points in the following set before the Frenchman, bidding for his maiden professional title, seized the initiative to push for a third set.

The opponent saved four early-game opportunities in a competitive deciding set before the Russian won the break to 15 to serve for the match.

Fittingly, Medvedev secured the title with a rally at the net, with his opponent unable to handle a return after a lengthy match.
